What kind of people come to Boutique Lifestyle Photography?

We photograph people of all ages, shapes and sizes and from all different backgrounds. We cater for individuals, couples, children and families of up to 6 people comfortably within our boutique Newmarket studio.

Please note we specialise in family orientated portraiture, so as such we do not shoot weddings. However, we often photograph couples both prior to and after their wedding, followed by a pregnancy and newborn shoot at later dates. It is not unusual for families to rebook with us again and again over the years!

What type of photography do you specialise in?

We specialise in professional family photography, children's photography, couples photography, portrait photography, glamour photography, maternity photography and graduation photography. We also offer professional headshots for your corporate needs, in addition to our professional product photography service. We welcome your enquiries regarding any of our services.

What days are you open for photo shoots?

We are open six days a week for photo shoots (Monday through to Saturday), with Saturdays being our most heavily booked day. Please note we work by appointment only. We suggest making your booking in advance where possible to avoid disappointment.

Do you do studio based photography?

Yes. We have a very trendy upmarket studio based in Newmarket Auckland. Our studio is based in the character-filled Dominion Motors Building located at Level 1, 3 Mortimer Pass, Newmarket (Just above Farmers).

Our studio offers a range of different backdrops and props that you are welcome to use during your photo shoot, helping to create artistic and timeless portraits of you and your loved ones.

Do you hold photographic consultations with clients?

Yes, you are welcome along for a pre-portrait consultation. We hold our no-obligation consultations at our Newmarket Studio (by appointment only), which normally take around half an hour.

Consultation bookings are available Monday to Saturday. Please feel free to contact us to discuss available appointments.

Do I need to bring anything to my consultation?

No, the only thing you need to bring is yourself! However, if you have any ideas for your photo shoot, please feel free to bring them along. Photographic consultations normally take around half an hour and can be made by contacting us or calling on (09) 522 5123.

During your consultation, we will happily provide you with ideas and concepts for you to consider. This is also a great time to meet the team, see the studio and begin planning your journey with us!

I don’t know how to pose myself. Do you help us with that?

Absolutely! Not many people know how to pose themselves naturally in photos. We will explain and show you all of the posing that will be required to help show you look your best during your photo shoot!

How long does a photo shoot take?

The length of a photo shoot depends on a few factors, mainly being how many people you are bringing to your photo shoot and the number of different combinations of them you would like photographed. Normally allow between 1 - 1.5 hours for your photo session in addition to your viewing.

We can comfortably accommodate up to 6 people within our studio. Please note our studio does not cater for pets.

What should I wear to my photo shoot?

This will be discussed with you during your photographic consultation or over the phone prior to your photo shoot, as it depends upon the theme(s) and style of photographs you want to create.

A smart casual theme works well in most instances. Please try to avoid clothing which has logos or writing visible, as this tends to date photographs. Denim jeans and a clean shirt/blouse always work well. We generally ask you to consider more 'winter fashion', as this tends to look more timeless and professional.

Can I purchase digital images from my photo shoot?

Digital images are available to purchase only for the images which are first purchased in a physical format. That is, digital images are not available as a stand-alone product.

Please note our digital image options are available only in a low-resolution format, suitable for personal use, but not for printing. If you have any questions regarding this aspect of our service, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Can I have my photographs framed and mounted?

Absolutely! We have a great range of presentation options including our contemporary photographic print collection and our trendy gallery style mounted images.

These presentation options will be shown to you during your time in studio. We are also more than happy to discuss and suggest ideas for your presentation options with you during your image viewing.

Will my photographs be retouched?

Yes, all of your chosen photographs are masterfully retouched to your satisfaction. We will discuss with you during your image viewing what you would like to have retouched...a little - or a lot. It’s up to you!

Unwanted blemishes, pimples, scratches and bruises are just some of the things that can be removed from your photos. This is just another way of making your beautiful photos even better!

How long does it take to process my order?

This can vary depending on the number of orders we are simultaneously processing at the same time as yours. Once you have placed your order please allow approximately two to three weeks for us to retouch and produce your chosen images. Please have this in mind if you require your photos for a specific date, and please mention this to us when making your booking.

We kindly ask that clients choose their images carefully, as we cannot reduce the size of orders once we have commenced their production due to the time and attention each image receives during post production. We are of course happy to supply a remedy under the Consumer Guarantees Act should there be any fault with your images.

Why do you refer to photography as an investment?

An investment refers to something that appreciates and gains value over time, like a house or shares (hopefully!). Sometimes they go up and sometimes they go down. We offer you something far better than that and with a guaranteed upside.

Photography is a way of capturing special moments between you and your loved ones forever. These are images you will never tire of! So, similar to a more traditional form of investment, your photos will increase in value to you for years and years to come. The only time you lose is when you fail to invest at all!

How much does it cost?

This depends entirely upon what kind of products and presentation options you would like to invest in. However, we have products to cater for all budgets – both big and small! Prices and options will be discussed with you during your no-obligation design consultation or prior to your photo shoot. You can also enquire about our flexible payment options.

The only images you purchase are the ones you love!

Will anyone else see my photographs?

Only if you allow us to show them. For all of our promotional images (including on this website) we have obtained a signed release from the client allowing us to use their photographs. You are under no obligation to have your photos shown to anyone else, and if this is the case, you will be the only one to see them.

How do I choose my images? What if I don’t like any of the photographs?

After your photo shoot you will be shown through your photos and you will have the chance to select your favourites. We can discuss with you during this time our range of presentation options for your consideration. We kindly ask that all decision makers are present during your viewing session, as this is when you will select your final images.

The only photographs you invest in are the ones that you love. You have no obligation to purchase any images that don’t feel like the right ones for you. But be prepared, you will have many great shots to choose from! As an added bonus, the process of choosing your images is a fun and relaxing experience. Our fantastic viewing software is specifically designed to make viewing your images easy and enjoyable!
